| 2002-03 Schedule/Results Northeastern 3, Niagara 1
Senior Brooke White scored two goals for the third time this season, while sophomore Marisa Hourihan made 23 saves, to power host Northeastern to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Niagara at Matthews Arena Saturday afternoon. The Huskies snapped a five-game losing with the win and improve to 8-16-2 overall. The Purple Eagles fall to 12-12-3. White tallied both her goals in the first period. After Hourihan made a save, she released the puck to defenseman Rebecca Peters, who slipped a pass to White at the Husky blue line. White then skated the length of the ice and through two Niagara defenders before unleashing a wrist shot that went off Purple Eagle goalie Jennifer Macaro's glove at 13:35. In the final minute of the period, senior Kim Greene had the puck behind the Niagara net and found White camped out in front of the goal for a nifty one-timer to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead with 44 seconds remaining before the break. At 12:40 of the second stanza, senior Nancy Collins scored her first goal of the season, squeezing the puck between Macaro's leg pad and the right post to give NU a 3-0 advantage. Peters recorded her second assist of the game on the play. The Huskies dominated play in the second period, outshooting the Purple Eagles, 12-6, but Macaro managed to keep the game close. The Husky penalty kill unit looked strong, allowing only three shots on four Niagara power plays. The Purple Eagles remained out of the penalty box the entire game. Niagara's Lindsay Vine scored at the 5:23 mark of the third period to avoid the shutout, when she knocked in a rebound directly in front of the goal.
