Northeastern received goals from eight different players, as the Huskies routed Boston University, 8-0, in the 25th annual Beanpot consolation game at Harvard's Bright Hockey Center on Tuesday night.
NU didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, scoring early and often. Sophomore Jess Judge lit the lamp with the first shot of the game just 10 seconds into action and the Huskies would score four more times before the first break. Senior Brooke White and freshman Cyndy Kenyon gave the Huskies a 3-0 cushion with goals at 7:36 and 7:53 of the first.
Senior Kim Greene added a score, finishing a nice pass from classmate Nancy Collins on a two-on-one breakaway. Freshman Rachael Bertram put NU up 5-0 with a goal at 16:43 of the first. The Huskies outshot the Terriers, 18-0, in the first period.
Senior Trazana Brown scored the lone goal of the second period. Brown fired a one-timer past BU goalie Amy Levine (30 saves) from freshman Kathryn Sands. Freshman Linda Desruisseaux and Sands both netted insurance goals in the third.
Freshman Katy Augustyn stopped seven shots in net for the shutout.
Northeastern hosts Maine for two Hockey East games Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.) at Matthews Arena.
