The Huskies rebounded from Friday's 3-2 loss to Niagara with an impressive 4-1 victory to split the non-conference weekend series with the Purple Eagles at Dwyer Arena in Niagara, N.Y., Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies raced out to a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal from Pamela Pachal 41 seconds into the game. Pachal's first power-play goal of the season snapped NU's 0-13 draught on power-play opportunities dating back to Oct. 13, 2002 against Wisconsin.
Michelle Lorion scored to make it 2-0 at the 6:25 mark and Pachal added her second of the afternoon and fifth of the season late in the period at the 17:56 mark to make the score 3-0.
In the second period, Northeastern outshot Niagara, 12-6, and finally broke through with a goal from freshman Rebecca Paul with 4:29 remaining in the period to give the Huskies a 4-0 lead heading into the fourth period.
Chanda Gunn turned away 24 shots, including a penalty shot in the second period, to earn the victory.
