| 2003-04 Schedule/Results 26th Annual Beanpot Semifinal
Northeastern received goals from seven different players, as the Huskies cruised to a 8-0 victory over Boston University in the semifinals of the 26th Annual Women’s Beanpot at Conte Forum Tuesday night. The Huskies, who have won the most titles in the tournament’s history (14), advance to the championship game for the 21st time and will play the winner of Harvard/Boston College Feb. 10 at Conte Forum (8 p.m.). Linda Desruisseaux was the lone Husky to net two scores. Stephanie Wood, Melissa Wigmore and Crystal Rochon all had a goal and an assist. Kathy Sands, Jennifer Beaudoin and Rachael Bertram also scored for NU, while Marie Desrosiers, Amy Goodney and Mia Mucci each had two assists. The victory extended NU’s win streak against the Terriers to 21 games. The Huskies have held BU scoreless in the last 13 meetings. Rachael Bertram opened the scoring at the 9:20 mark of the first period, ripping a slap shot from the top of the right circle that sailed past Leah Schechter and the near post to give NU a 1-0 lead. Desrosiers and Goodney were credited with assists. The Huskies upped their lead to 2-0 with a nifty goal from Rochon at 11:14. Mucci rounded the back of the net and slid a pass to Rochon in the left circle. Rochon deked a defender then skated in on Schechter, beating her with a backhander. Kathryn Sands fired a one-timer past Schechter at the 16:05 mark to give NU a 3-0 edge heading into the first intermission. Rochon and Mucci registered assists. After the first 20 minutes of action, the Huskies held a 6-1 shot advantage. BU had the only power-play opportunity, but couldn’t convert. At 4:31 of the second period, Desruisseaux put her name in the scoring summary with redirection goal off a shot from Goodney. Desrosiers also had an assist. At 7:09 of the second, Wigmore made a nice move skating from the corner round a BU defender and toward the goal before slipping the puck between Schechter’s legs for the Huskies fifth goal of the game. Stephanie Wood assisted. Beaudoin skated into the slot and lifted a backhander over Schecter’s left shoulder at 10:23. Melissa Jubinville provided an assist. With 1:26 remaining in the second, Wood stuffed in Wigmore’s rebound to give the Huskies a 7-0 lead going into the final period. Desruisseaux scored the lone goal of the third period with 2:41 remaining in the game. The Huskies outshot the Terriers, 25-1. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
