Kristen Thomas recorded her 100th career point in a five-assist effort that guided the 10th-ranked University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team to Friday night's 9-2 Hockey East victory against Northeastern University at the Whittemore Center.
Northeastern had its seven-game unbeaten streak (3-0-4) come to an end and is 10-6-7, 4-4-3. UNH, which netted a season-high nine goals, is now 14-8-3 overall and 9-1-1 in Hockey East.
The Wildcats led 1-0 through one period of play on Rebecca Paul's power-play tally at 14:27. Carolyn Gordon scored the first of her two goals on the power play at 1:25 of the second period.
Sadie Wright-Ward and Lindsey Caleo scored 3:01 apart to extend the Wildcats' advantage to 4-0, then Jackie Wedster struck with 49 seconds remaining in the middle stanza for a 5-0 differential through 40 minutes.
Northeastern trimmed the deficit to 5-1 on Amy Goodney's eighth goal of the season, coming 17 seconds into the final frame. Lori DiGiacomo scored off her own rebound at 3:17.
The Huskies next play in the Championship game of the Beanpot Tournament Monday night against Harvard. They return to Hockey East action on Feb. 14 when NU hosts BC at 2 p.m.
