The Huskies fell to the Wildcats of New Hampshire on Saturday night by the score of 7-1. Northeastern's record falls to 2-7-1 on the season while the seventh-ranked Wildcats our 8-1-1. This was Northeastern's second loss in Hockey East play with their previous loss coming against New Hampshire on Nov. 3 of this year.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead with Taylor Palazeti's fifth goal of the season only three minutes into the game. Northeastern responded with an unassisted goal my Melissa Wigmore to tie the score 1-1. New Hampshire put the game out of reach thanks to two power play goals by Nicole Heckle within seconds of each other near the end of the first period.
Northeastern hurt themselves with penalties in the first stanza being called for six penalties for 20 minutes leading to the two power play goals. The Huskies finished with 13 penalties on the game for a total of 34 minutes.
New Hampshire's Lindsay Hansen had five points on the night with one goal and four assists and Taylor Palazeti and Nicole Heckle both recorded two goals.
Northeastern managed only 12 shots on goal for the game against New Hampshire who registered 45 shots on target. Northeastern's Marisa Hourihan had 38 saves in the game while allowing seven goals. Brittney Busa of New Hampshire stopped 11 shots while allowing only one goal.
The Huskies will travel to Providence, RI to take on Brown on Tuesday Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.
