The Huskies fell to 2-14-1 on the year with a 6-2 loss against Princeton. Northeastern looks to improve after finishing out the 2004 schedule with 8 consecutive loses. Princeton climbed to 8-4-2 on the year.
Princeton's Liz Keady scored two goals in the first period to give the Tigers the early lead. Laura Watt assisted on both goals. Northeastern managed only two shots on goal for the period.
The Huskies offense came out firing in the second period putting 21 shots on goal. Unfortunately Northeastern could not convert on any of their scoring chances. Ashley Bielawski had the best opportunity for the Huskies with a breakaway midway through the period. Princeton goalie Roxanne Gaudiel was able to knock the puck away to give the Tigers the 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
Northeastern recorded their first goal of the game early in the third period to cut the Tiger lead to one goal. Missy Elumba scored her second goal in as many games with assists from Ashley Bielawski and captain Lori DiGiacomo. The Huskies appeared to be back in the game until Marie Desrosiers was whistled for a five-minute major penalty for hitting from behind. The Tigers managed three goals during the power play including Liz Keady's third of the game and sixth of the year.
Ashley Bielawski scored a power play goal later in the third period with assists from Marie Desrosiers and Missy Elumba.
Both goalies finished with 30 saves on the evening. Roxanne Gaudiel stopped 21 Husky shots in the second period.
The Huskies will not play again until Jan. 15 against Boston College.
