The Huskies dropped a close one, 6-5, in overtime against Ohio State on Sunday. The loss drops the Huskies' record to 1-6-1 on the season and raises the Buckeyes record to 6-5-1. Both games this weekend between the squads went into an overtime period at OSU Ice Rink.

Each team had a player record a hat trick during the contest with OSU's Jana Harrigan scoring her third goal during the overtime period to give the Buckeyes the victory. Amy Goodney of NU recorded a hat trick also giving her four on the season to lead the Huskies.

The Huskies got the scoring started only 30 seconds into the game when sophomore Marie Desrosiers scored thanks to an assist from Lindsay Snider. OSU tied the score up later in the period but Amy Goodney scored her first goal of the game in the closing minutes of the period to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Each team scored two goals in the second period with Northeastern scoring their goals only 36 seconds apart in the final minute of the period to regain the lead at 4-3. Ashley Bielawski scored her second goal as a Husky and Goodney scored her second goal as the period wound down.

Ohio State tied the game early in the third period with a goal from Katie Maroney and took their first lead of the game with a goal by Meaghan Mulvaney. Down one goal with less than a minute remaining in the game the Huskies found themselves with a power play opportunity. Assistant captain Amy Goodney was able to record her third goal of the game with 30 seconds remaining to force an overtime period. Goodney's hat trick was the first for the Huskies in over a year.

With the score tied 5-5 the teams needed overtime for the second consecutive game to decide a winner. Jana Harrigan of OSU was able to score the game-winner with her third goal of the game on the only shot of the overtime period.

NU's five goals were a season-high.

The Huskies will return to Matthews Arena next time out with a game against Boston College on Nov. 19.
