| 2007-08 Schedule/Results Northeastern 2, Niagara 5
On Sunday the Huskies hosted Niagara for the second game of the weekend series and suffered a 5-2 loss courtesy of Ashley Riggs. Riggs scored all five Niagara goals, placing her third on the Eagles' all-time scoring list. Kristi Kehoe added a goal and an assist for the Huskies, as did captain Nikki Petrich. With the loss, the Huskies drop to 0-4-1 on the season. The first period was filled with scoring opportunites as Northeastern registered nine shots on goal, including a screaming line shot from Chelsey Jones that narrowly missed the net, instead hitting the cross bar. The Huskies kept the pressure on and Cassie Sperry took a pass from Nikki Petrich and shot it toward the goal. The puck deflected off Kehoe and into the net for the first Husky goal of the game. It marks the first time the Huskies have scored the first goal of the game this season. Kehoe now has three goals on the season. Niagara answered back quickly putting up two quick goals, both scored by Riggs. The first goal came at 8:27 in the first with help from Mary McKinnon and Vena Heikkila. Heikkilia assisted on the second goal as well, which occured with under three minutes remaining in the period. In the second period, it was all defense, as neither team scored. Northeastern outshot the Eagles in the period 9-6 but were unable to convert any into scores. The third period opened up with a score of 2-1 in favor of the Eagles. Riggs quickly added a score for Niagara with an unassisted goal at 2:09 in the third. A minute later, Jones was called for interference and sent Niagara on a powerplay. The Eagles were able to convert it to their fourth goal of the game at 3:19. Frances McPhail registered the assist. Later in the period, Christina Jablonski was given a penalty for hooking, setting up the Huskies for a powerplay opportunity. Petrich too advantage and earned her second point of the day when she found net for the Huskies' second goal of the game, her fifth of the season. Lindsay Berman and Kehoe recorded the assists on the powerplay score that brought Norhteastern within two. In the final minute of the game, with the Huskies down 4-2, goalie Leah Sulyma was pulled in favor of an extra skater but Riggs was there to put the puck in for her second empty net goal in two days and her fifth of the game. The Eagles leave Boston with a 2-1-1 record and have evened the all-time series with the Huskies to 10-10-2. The Huskies return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m., as they host the Connecticut Huskies at Matthews Arena.
