No. 1 New Hampshire Wildcats scored three times in the first period and defeated the Huskies at Matthews Arena on Sunday . The Wildcats' first goal came from freshman Jenn Wakefield at 3:23 in the period, her 10th score of the season. Assisting on the goal were Micaela Long and Sam Faber.

The Wildcats continued with their relentless attack and put up two more goals in the final three minutes of the frame. Junior Sam Faber notched her 11th goal of the season at 16:18, assisted by Maggie Joyce and Raylen Dziengelewski. Julia Marty followed up a minute later with her second strike of the season, with Angela Taylor assisting, giving New Hampshire a 3-0 lead at the end of the period.

Northeastern's rookie goalie kept the Huskies in the game, making 13 saves in the frame.

In the second period, Northesatern charged back. They held the Wildcats scoreless and matched them in shots with 11. The Huskies also generated more scoring opportunites than in the first period. Nikki Petrich came close to scoring her 10th goal of the season but her shot hit the post, and the Huskies could not find net. Sulyma continued her stellar goaltending, adding 11 stops, giving her a total of 24 at the end of the period.

The Wildcats got one more in the third period at 4:30 thanks to Courtney Birchard's third tally of the season, with Steph Holmes and Kelly Paton assisting. The goal have New Hampshire a 4-0 lead, but that's all they would get.

The Huskies played tough and grabbed nine shots on goal, including a post shot from Annie Hogan, but were unable to score in the game. The loss drops the Huskies to 3-10-1 on the season and 2-3-0 in Hockey East play.

The star of the game was Sulyma, who stopped 19 shots in the third period, giving her a season-high 43 on the afternoon.

The Huskies host Hockey East rival Boston College at Matthews Arena in the final game before the holiday break on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.
