| 2007-08 Schedule/Results Providence 8, Northeastern 3
The Huskies managed to come back from a two-goal deficit and tie the game at three by the end of the second, but Providence scored five times in the third, including a hat trick by Alyse Ruff, to take an 8-3 win at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. The Huskies were outshot 14-6 in the first period, but NU made it count as they jumped out to an early lead thanks to Colleen Sanborn's first goal of the season at 02:05. Katy Applin earned her 13th assist of the season on the play. NU goalie Leah Sulyma kept the Friars at bay until 14:44 when Katy Beach tied the game at one with an assist from Sarah Feldman. Sulyma made 13 saves in the period while Providence goalie Danielle Ciarletta saved five out of six in the period after shutting out the Huskies in Saturday's contest. Providence took the lead at 7:02 in the second after Erin Reil was called for slashing. Mari Pehkonen was able to capitalize on the man-advantage with her sixth goal of the season. The Friars then added another one at 14:18 in the period by Sarah Feldman, assisted by Danielle Tangredi. The Huskies kept at it though and just seven seconds later Ali Bielawski scored her third goal of the season with assists from Alyssa Wohlfeiler (six) and Annie Hogan (five( to make it 3-2. The assist gives Hogan a career-high eight points. With just under two minutes remaining in the second, Chelsey Jones nabbed her 13th goal of the season off an assist from Kristi Kehoe (13) to tie the game up at three apiece. Once again penalties came back to haunt the Huskies. Captain Nikki Petrich was called for slashing and Alyse Ruff to advantage to give the Friars a 4-3 lead at 5:00 in the third. Then Providence's top scorer Kathleen Smith was able to get the team's fifth goal at 8:12. Providence put the game away for good when Ruff scored again for the team's sixth goal at 15:15. Ruff scored again two minutes later to give Providence a four-goal lead over NU. As if that wasn't enough, the Friars felt like adding another at 19:10 from Amber Yung to make the final score 8-3. The loss drops the Huskies to 6-21-3 and 5-11-1 in Hockey East. Next weekend the team heads to Vermont for a weekend series with the Catamounts at Gutterson Field House.
