Lauren McAuliffe joins the women's hockey program in 2008-09 as an assistant coach. She comes to Northeastern after spending two seasons at Manhattanville College, first as an assistant coach and then as interim head coach.
As head coach of the Valiants in 2007-08, McAuliffe led the team to the ECAC East tournament, made it to the national championship game, coached two All-Americans and was runner-up for Div. III Women's Coach of the Year. As an assistant coach in 2006-07, McAuliffe helped lead the team to the ECAC East tournament and the NCAA tournament quarterfinals. In McAuliffe's two seasons, Manhattanville went 43-15-1.
McAuliffe is a 2004 graduate of Harvard University, where she was a four-year letterwinner in women's hockey. During her tenure at Harvard, the Crimson advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times and made it to the final twice. The team won four Beanpots. In McAuliffe's senior year of 2003-04, she captained the team to both the ECAC regular season and tournament titles. She was named to the ECAC All-Tournament team that season.
While at Harvard, McAuliffe also earned ECAC All-Academic honors, was named ECAC Player of the Week and was a two-year member of the softball team.
Following her collegiate career, McAuliffe played two seasons of professional hockey. In 2004-05, McAuliffe played for the Toronto Aeros of the National Women's Hockey League where she won both the National and NWHL championship. In 2005-06, McAuliffe played with the Oberthurgau Pikes of the Swiss Women's Hockey A League.
At the international level, McAuliffe was a finalist for the 2006 Olympic Team, participated in the summer and winter festivals and attended the pre-World Championship camp. McAuliffe also won the gold medal at the 2006 World Inline Hockey Championship.
McAuliffe also has five years of experience working with players at the Canadian Hockey Enterprises "Just for Girls" camp, where she planned and ran on-ice sessions, and off-ice conditioning.
McAuliffe earned her bachelor's degree in Government at Harvard University in 2004 and her master's in Sport Business Management at Manhattanville 2008. She resides in North Reading, Mass.
