The women's soccer team hosts Northeastern's first home sports contest of the year when the Huskies take on Manhattan College on Friday at 6 p.m. at Parsons Field. The Huskies are led by five seniors, including co-captains Emilee Ellison and Brenna Matthews. Head coach Ed Matz is in his 10th season leading the team and has added 13 newcomers to the attack for 2008. The Huskies host St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will have live web video on GoNU.TV.
Incoming class ranked No. 2 in CAA
Northeastern's 2008 recruiting class was ranked No. 2 in the Colonial Athletic Association by soccerbuzz.com, the leading resource for collegiate women's soccer on the web. The Huskies have added 12 student-athletes to join the team this fall, across every position. According to the web site, "Northeastern has signed better players but this group is unique due to its depth and range of possible contributors."

Schedule announced for 2008
Northeastern head coach Ed Matz announced the women's soccer 2008 season schedule. The Huskies will play nine home games and 10 away games, beginning with Manhattan on Friday, Aug. 29, at Parsons Field. The Huskies' first CAA game is at home against Drexel on Sept. 26 and the Huskies conclude the regular season at Hofstra on Oct. 30.

Matz announces 2008 recruiting class
The Huskies' head coach Ed Matz announced the women's soccer 2008 recruiting class. Among the 12 student-athletes are two goalkeepers, four forwards, three midfielders and two defenders. Five of the recruits are natives of Massachusetts.

Matthews, Ellison named 2008 captains
Senior defenders Brenna Matthews and Emilee Ellison will serve as Northeastern's co-captains in 2008, head coach Ed Matz has announced. Matthews has been a starter for all three seasons at Northeastern and has three goals in 52 career games. Ellison has played in 40 career matches and is one of the Huskies’ key anchors in the back. They helped the Huskies hold opponents to 1.97 goals per game in 2005, 1.11 in 2006 and 1.32 in 2007.
