Northeastern lost to Penn 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Parsons Field in the semifinals of the 2000 ECAC Championship.

Despite outshooting the second-seeded Quakers 15-12, third-seeded NU could only capitilize once and finished their excellent 2000 campaign with an 11-7-1 record.

Penn's Heather Issing broke the game's scoreless tie with a goal just 2:15 into the action. NU trailed for nearly 40 minutes until Jessica Kearn gathered the ball in front of the net off Amy Devendorf's 40-yard free kick and sent it past the Quakers' backup goalie Kathy Hunt.

Just prior to NU's goal, Penn's starting keeper, Vanessa Scotto, had to leave the game due to an injury suffered on an NU attack.

The Huskies and the Quakers went into the half knotted at 1-1.

At the 54:35 mark, Penn's Anne Laughlin scored to make the score 2-1 and provide the eventual game-winning goal.

With just under five minutes left in the game, Quaker Kelliane Tolland scored on a breakaway pass from Heather Taylor to seal NU's fate.

With the victory, Penn improves to 9-8-1 on the season and advances to the final of the ECAC Championship Sunday against top seed St. John's. The Red Storm shut out fourth-seeded Lafayette 3-0 in Saturday's first semifinal. The title game will be at Parsons Field and start at 1 p.m. Sunday.
