| 2000 Schedule/Results Northeastern 4, Albany 0
Freshman Tanya Mello recorded a hat trick to tie the Northeastern record for goals in a game, leading the Huskies to a 4-0 win over the University at Albany. NU is now 2-0 for the first time in its five-year history as a varsity program. The Huskies outshout the Great Danes 34-5, and have now outshot their two opponents in 2000 by a total of 54-11. Mello scored her first goal of the afternoon in the 20th minute on a blast from the right side. Melissa Cohen set up the play. Mello then tallied from the left side less than four minutes later and the Huskies took a 2-0 edge into halftime. The dynamic NU freshman completed the hat trick off another Cohen pass in the 64th minute. Cohen rebounded her own shot and fed Mello for the score. Jen Herlihy, a 1999 New England All-Star, finished the scoring barrage with her first goal of the season, coming off a free kick in the 73rd minute. Rachelle Parkinson was forced to make just three saves in net for the Huskies through 77 minutes, before turning over the netminding duties to senior Sarah Reidel. The Huskies tied a team record for goals in a game with their four. NU has now done it four times, most recently on Oct. 17, 1996 in a 4-0 win over St. Joseph's. Only one other NU player had ever scored three goals in a game before Mello did it Wednesday. Keri Irwin, NU's all-time leading scorer, had three against Massasoit on Oct. 8, 1996. SCORING:
