| 2001 Schedule/Results Northeastern 3, Siena 1
Northeastern defeated Siena 3-1 Tuesday to open the 2001 season. It didn't take long for either team to find the net in the match. The Huskies jumped ahead early as Shannon Dwyer scored her first goal of the season on a breakaway just two minutes into the contest off an assist from Emily Haahr. The Saints (0-2) answered right back, however, with a score of their own at the 4:08 mark to tie the game 1-1. The scoring continued only three minutes later when NU's Caitlin Springer scored what would prove to be the game-winner on a shot from 25 yards out. Jenna Thompson recorded her first NU career assist on the goal to give the Huskies a 2-1 advantage. Both teams went scoreless the remainder of the first half, but the Huskies added an insurance goal in the 66th minute of the second half when Liz Dyjack netted her first career goal and helped seal the 3-1 win. NU outshot Siena 14-5 and keeper Shellie Parkinson recorded four saves in the winning effort.
