ALBANY, NY - Caitlin Springer's two goals helped lift the Northeastern University women's soccer team over America East opponent Albany 3-2 on Thursday night in New York. Springer headed in the game's first goal at 10:06 off a cross from Jennifer North. Albany responded at the 28:49 mark as Toni Ann Burdi scored to tie the game at 1-1. Following the 1-1 tie at intermission, NU took the lead on Rebecca Viviani's first collegiate goal as she capitalized on an Albany turnover and found the lower left corner nine minutes into the second half. Albany forced its second tie of the contest when Ashley Jurica took Michelle Wise's cross pass and sent in past NU goalie Shellie Parkinson. However, Springer then two-touched in her eighth goal of the season past Albany keeper Beth Spinelli. With the victory, NU snaps a five-game winless streak and improves to 6-3-4 on the season and 2-2-3 in America East play, while Albany drops to 1-11 on the year and 0-7 in conference action. Next up for NU is conference foe Stony Brook on Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. SCORING
