BROOKLINE, MA - Liz Dyjack's penalty kick with 25 seconds remaining in regulation lifted the Northeastern women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over America East opponent Hofstra on Sunday afternoon at Parsons Field in Brookline, Mass.

In a very intense and physical game, Rebecca Viviani was tripped in the box at the 89:35 mark to set up Dyjack's game-winning goal. It was her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

NU got on the board first at 29:57 courtesy of Jennifer North's first career collegiate goal. North took a Kelly Smith pass and sent it past Hofstra goalie Kristine Winchester from 15 yards out.

North's goal was the only in the first frame of action, but the Pride responded at 64:56 as Audra Sherman fired a shot past NU keeper Shellie Parkinson. Kristina Covellie assisted on Sherman's third goal of the season.

Just five seconds after Dyjack's game-winning goal, Hofstra's Dolores Deasley and NU's Melissa Cohen got tangled up and both fell to the ground. Deasley received a yellow card for rough play and so did Husky Dyjack who ran to the aid of Cohen and shoved Deasley.

In the victory, NU improves to 4-0-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in America East action, while Hofstra falls to 3-2-1 on the year and 0-1-1 in conference action.
