| 2002 Schedule/Results Sacred Heart 4, Northeastern 0
The Sacred Heart women's soccer team had a dominating offensive performance in a 4-0 shutout of Northeastern on Tuesday. Junior Paula Pineda led the way with her second straight three-goal game. "We were never really in the game," said NU head coach Ed Matz. "I attribute it to the fact that it was our third road game in five days. We were a very tired team, physically and mentally. We also didn't play that well. When teams are tired and play poorly, they lose by scores like 4-0." Sophomore Ingrid Olsson opened the scoring at the 35:07 mark when she finished off a beautiful 1-2 pass to the left corner from senior Andrea Linder and Pineda. The Huskies fended off a number of Sacred Heart attacks to keep the score 1-0 into halftime, but were unable to withstand the Pioneers attack early on in the second half. Pineda wasted little time in adding to the score as she nailed home her first goal of the day off an Ashleigh Bepko rebound in front just three minutes into the second half. The junior midfielder put the game out of reach in the 58th minute, finishing off a Nathalie Urbas pass in front of the net. Pineda completed her second straight hat trick at 63:05 blasting her third goal of the day past Northeastern goalkeeper Cynthia Slowik into the right corner. Sacred Heart junior goalkeeper Leslie Konsig was solid in goal, making three saves for her fifth shutout of the season. Slowik saw the majority of time in goal for Northeastern, making four saves. The Huskies were outshot, 17-6, on the afternoon. NU will next be at Hartford on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.
