| The Huskies dropped their second straight game on Monday afternoon, falling to America East rival New Hampshire, 2-0, at Lewis Fields.
Junior forward Chiara Best led the way for the Wildcats with the game-winning goal and an assist. Best got UNH on the board in the fifth minute with her seventh goal of the season. New Hampshire would add some insurance later in the half, when a throw-in from Best went to sophomore Jackie Wishoski, who buried a shot for the two-goal advantage.
Northeastern had a slow start to the game, but came out aggressive in the second half, taking eight of its 11 total shots in the period. The Huskies put up a couple of good scoring chances but could not get one past UNH goalkeeper Liz MacKay. With 15 minutes remaining, redshirt freshman Kristin Kowalik took a shot on the out-of-position goalkeeper that sailed above the post. Just four minutes later, MacKay came up with a big save on sophomore Filippa Petruccelli's shot from 25 yards out.
Northeastern and UNH were even in the game in shots with 11. NU goalkeeper Cynthia Slowik posted three saves in the losing effort, while MacKay recorded two. The Wildcats improved to 5-6-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the America East, while the Huskies fall to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Northeastern hits the road again on Thursday, as the Huskies travel to Burlington for a conference match with Vermont at 3 p.m. Northeastern New Hampshire
