Rhode Island cruised past Northeastern in the final game of the Comfort Suites/URI Invitational on Sunday afternoon, 4-0.
Sophomore Melanie Kasparek scored the only goal the Rams would need on the afternoon, putting a free kick from junior Claire Landon past NU goalkeepr Cynthia Slowik for a 1-0 lead with just under a minute remaining in the half.
Rhode Island went on to score another goal early in the second half, and two more in the final 10 minutes of play to put the game away. The Rams outshot the Huskies, 12-8, with Slowik posting four saves on the day. Freshman Elissa Harrison also saw her first action has a goalkeeper for NU, playing in the final 5:35 of the match.
Northeastern returns to action on Friday when the Huskies host Long Island at Parsons Field at 6 p.m.
