The women’s soccer team won its season opener by shutting out Jacksonville University, 3-0, on Friday, Aug. 27 at the Florida Atlantic Kick-Off Classic in Boca Raton, Fla. The Huskies scored three goals in the second half to take the win.
Sophomore Kristen Kowalik scored the first goal on an assist from Jessica Pfeifer at 49:26.
Freshman Dianna Mastromauro ran past a defender to follow up with an unassisted goal at 57:37.
The third goal came from sophomore Amanda Sesto, who picked up a wide shot from Kristen Kowalik at 67:26. Kowalik was given the assist.
The Huskies outshot the Dolphins, 15-3. Junior transfer Mariel Wilner started her career in goal at Northeastern with one save.
Northeastern faces host Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. to finish its road trip in Florida.
