The women's soccer team remained undefeated at home this season with a 1-0 win over CAA opponent Georgia State. The Huskies improve to 8-3-2, 4-1-1 CAA with the victory.
The Huskies goal came from sophomore forward Jenna Lucchesi in the 51st minute of play. She took a pass from senior co-captain Siobhan Howard, six yards out. The ball hit the right post and defelcted into the goal past Panthers goalie Megan Macdonald.
It wasn't Lucchesi's only scoring chance, however, as she led the NU offense with six shots, including two off the crossbar. Freshman midfielder Sophia Palmquist also had a shot off the crossbar and Howard had a shot that the goalie tipped out.
Northeastern outshot the Panthers 21-7. but junior keeper Annie Petrofsky came up with four huge saves to keep the Huskies in the game.
In the 66th minute it appeared the Panthers had tied the game when Tenisha Cohen shot on an empty net but senior midfielder Jessie Haidamaka made a sliding save to kick the ball out of the goal.
Northeastern goes back on the road next weekend with games at Virginia Commonwealth and James Madison.
