The Northeastern University women's soccer team (8-4-2, 4-2-1) dropped just their second conference game this season to Virginia Commonwealth Friday at VCU's Sports Backers Stadium.
The Huskies fell 2-1 to the Rams (10-3-2, 6-1) in the battle for second place in the conference.
VCU struck first, scoring in the 19th minute when Stephanie Power lofted a ball from 40 yards out over the head of junior keeper Annie Petrofsky.
The Huskies evened the scored with a goal in the 25th minute from sophomore Caitlin Whelan.
The scored stayed knotted until the 70th minute when Pernilla Jansson scored, assisted by Melanie Simonich.
The Rams outshot NU 14-11. It is the first time the Huskies have been outshot in a game since the 2-0 loss to Penn State on Sept. 17.
Northeastern will head to James Madison (5-8-1, 1-4-1) for a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
