The women’s soccer team was handed their first CAA loss Sunday as they fell to Delaware 2-0.
The game was scoreless in the first half with a lot of up and down play. The Blue Hens were able to outshoot the Huskies in the first half 4-2.
Delaware came out strong in the second half. At 51:40 Delaware’s Dana Rodgers was able to net her first goal on a rebound that went off the hands of Northeastern goalkeeper Stephanie Gordon. At 86:08, Delaware was able to add on the insurance goal by Caitlyn Germain who received a nice pass from Rodgers. Germain was able to get off a clean shot from inside the 18 yard line which found its way to the back of the net.
The Huskies were outshot for only the second time this season. Gordon made three saves on the day. Delaware goalkeeper Annie Bevan tallied six saves in her winning effort.
The Huskies will look to turn things around Friday night as they take on Towson at 6 p.m. at Parsons Field. The Huskies are 1-6-1 all time against the Tigers.
