The Huskies let up two unanswered goals in the second half against William & Mary in a 3-2 loss Friday night. Danielle Collins put in a header off a corner kick in the 68th minute as the game-winner.
The Huskies fall to 7-5-1 on the season and 3-2-0 in CAA play. With the win, William & Mary improves to 9-4-1 on the season and 4-1-0 in CAA play.
In the first half, William & Mary struck first with a goal by Claire Zimmeck in the 25th minute. The Huskies then answered with two goals in two minutes. Veronica Napoli scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season at 35:40 and Kelly Matthews followed with her second goal of the season at 37:04. The Huskies held a 2-1 lead going into halftime.
That lead did not hold for very long however as William & Mary’s Sarah Quinlan scored 29 second into the second half off assists by Bittany Lane and Zimmeck. The header by Collins in the 68th minute put the Tribe on top and they held on for the victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Gordon made four saves for the Huskies in a wild offensive match that included 25 shots by the offenses. The Tribe held the shot advantage at 14-11. Meghan Walker made five saves for William & Mary.
Norhteastern is back in action as the Huskies travel to take on Old Dominion on Sunday at 1 p.m.
